Make sure that your choice in marble tile has been appropriately gauged (its edges are perfectly square) and calibrated (the back of each tile is made entirely flat). This will make it easier to install from tile to tile. And when you order marble, expect color variation. This is a natural product, the color of which has been determined randomly depending on which mineral content makes up each batch when the marble is formed.

Marble is not ideal for a kitchen countertop. It is more suitable for vanity units in bathrooms, coffee tables, consoles. Even when sealed, marble is not as dense as granite. This makes it more porous and more prone to staining especially in a highly used area such as a kitchen.
Natural stones are available in a beautiful spectrum of colours. For instance, colours on granite and marble range from soft beige and pink, classic black and white to rich red, green and multi-colour. Marble traditionally has swirls and veins of colours, while granite has a flecked or pebbled appearance. Unlike the repetitive uniformity of man-made materials produced by machines from the assembly line, natural stones are slowly formed over millions of years beneath the earth surface with each carrying their own characteristicwith a unique effect when used.
There are several finishes available for natural stones and new ones created regularly to meet consumer demands. For instance: polished, honed, leathered, bush hammered and antiqued. Finishes are important as they preserve the luster of the stones, making them capableto withstand for years of wear and tear.
Polishing
Grinding, sanding and buffing produce a high gloss, mirror-like surface. It is the most popular finishing for marble, as it enhances the colour and markings of the material. This gives the stone an elegant, rich and a glossy shine look. However, it can only be used on crystallized stones. It is best used for wall coverings and inappropriate for stone flooring due to its low slip resistance value.
Honing
Grinding and sanding produces a smooth, yet not glossy finish. The result is a satin smooth but unreflective surface. It is highly recommended for internal stone flooring.
Leathering
The process of texturing granite or marble to make it less glossy. It requires a relatively low level of maintenance and is pleasant to the touch. It is only available for certain varieties of marble and granite.
Bush hammering
A natural stone finish isachieved by the application of a hydraulic bush hammer to the surface. A bush hammer is a specialized stone-working hammer which creates a smooth stone surface with small indentions. This produces a non-slip surface that lightens the colour and dulls any pattering found in a stone’s natural state.
Antiquing
The stone is tumbled with sand, pebbles and etc to create a weathered aged finishing. It usually dulls the colour of the stone and creates an artistic effect.

Yes. The best people to speak with about how to repair marble are your local retailers. They know about the latest products which are meant for repairing marble. Most of these will come in the form of an epoxy glue or filler. Wiping down any broken pieces with acetone so that all existing materials are removed is the first step in making sure that it will re-bond with the broken piece. Make sure to clear all bonding agents from the surface of the marble. Be sure to apply the right amount of pressure for the right amount of time.
The final look of mixed tiles may fall short of appearance expectations, especially if the stone is variegated and veined. The installer should mix tiles from different boxes during the installation to achieve a more even, visually pleasing result in the finished surface. The homeowner should always look at the natural stone with the installer before the installation takes place. Moreover, it is highly recommended that the homeowner gets involved and discusses the stone layout with the installer in details to prevent misunderstandings from occurring.

Use a neutral cleaning agent or warm soapy water and finish with a dry cloth. Do not use acidic, abrasive, wax or bleach based household cleaners and sprays on granite or marble.
Granite is a hard natural igneous rock. The principal constituents of granite are feldspar, quartz, biotite and other minerals. Various unique colours, textures, shades and patterns were a result of the minerals melting into the liquid mass in the formation process. (This is why patterns may vary)
The mineral composition in both stones means that they react differently to various household cleaners and chemicals.
Samples are a great way of finding out if the marble you’re interested in is what you’re really looking for. But, because there will always be variation in terms of both color and surface pattern, a sample should be viewed in the broadest terms only. This means that the colors you see in your sample is a very general guide as to how the marble in your order will look. Aside from this, a sample can give you ideas about textures, weight, and durability before you buy. In this, ordering samples is a great idea.
